Too many people are living in properties that just aren’t suited to their needs. Whether that is because they have a physical disability or learning difficulties and need a long-term home specifically tailored to their needs, or because they are homeless, fleeing domestic abuse or overcoming drug or alcohol addiction. Everyone deserves a safe, comfortable, affordable home – somewhere they can close the front door and feel safe.
For us, being in business is about creating value not just for us and our investors, but for individuals and communities. To that end, our goal is that by 2025 over half of our business will be Supported Living accommodation for vulnerable tenants.
Our investors are happy because their money is working hard AND doing good, helping people who really need it.
Our supported living partners are happy because we provide them with high quality refurbished accommodation that will help meet their clients’ needs.
We are happy because we’re helping individuals transform their lives by providing safe, comfortable, affordable homes that meet their support needs.
Our first supported living property is a home for young people leaving care. This property was part of a deceased estate and needed significant refurbishment when we took it on. We removed the dated kitchen and bathroom, replaced the whole of the ground floor as it was rotten, took down a chimney that was causing damp and reconfigured the layout to add a second bathroom. The whole property was rewired, plastered and redecorated throughout.
We worked in partnership with the local council to create a home for young people leaving care. We fitted the house out with brand new appliances so it was ready for the new tenants to move in. This house is now the first taste of independent living for young people who have been in the care system. They have regular support from a local organisation helping them with the transition to independent adult life.
